Diploma Programme Manager’s message:

My name is Nazia Adeel, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme’s Manager. Our Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad is the most unique boarding/ day boarding school in Islamabad. IBDP is a two year pre-university programme for the students aged 16 to 19 years. If you are an internationally minded student ready to take up the challenges of life, Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad is the place for you.

At Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad, we are big supporters of IBDP due to its holistic approach and special focus on developing well-rounded personalities through the IB Learner Profile. IBDP lays special emphasis on preparing the students for rigorous university life by giving them an opportunity to research and produce high quality work, to learn about learning and to explore their own strengths, aptitudes and emerge as life-long learners.

Pedagogical leadership team

The pedagogical leadership team is the heart and the soul of any educational institution. Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad trains its pedagogical leadership team to the highest standards and equips them with the required skills to augment teaching and learning at Beaconhouse Newlands for both the students and teachers. Continuous professional development of the faculty is one of the key priorities here at Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad.

Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad has done much to advance new developments in education with a campus which is a research and education centre, whose state-of-the-art facilities and design encourage inter-disciplinary work, progressive discussions where new ideas are exchanged and whose spacious layouts and communications systems foster a spirit of openness.


The Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad library addresses a wide range of disciplines that stretch over extensively researched and highly recommended book lists, cherry picked to provide the students with information that is essential for their courses. This ranges from written literature, journals, audio books, documentaries and various other forms of publications.

A feature of the library is an area for independent study, which is conducive to learning, reflecting and developing.

E- Library:

Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad believes in providing the students with the latest technologies to facilitate their learning including an E-library, which can be accessed from anywhere and at any time.

From September 2015, Britannica Online is launching a pilot project with Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad by providing Diploma Programme students access to all their online resources.

Science Facilities:

The laboratories at Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad include both research labs and instructional labs for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. They have been set up under expert supervision and with extensive equipment, along with the appropriate safety measures. These have been designed to facilitate the increasing use of advanced technologies, scientific research and applied experiments.


At Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad, we believe Sports helps build character and teach the importance of maintaining discipline, developing team spirit, respecting rules and practicing self-control in life. The sports facilities include basketball, volleyball, tennis and squash courts, football fields, swimming pools, multipurpose gymnasiums and a tree house for the younger students.

The integrated schedule for sports gives every student an opportunity to explore and excel in the sport of his or her choice. Special national level coaches will provide training and opportunities for students to compete at the national level.

Boarding and Day Boarding:

Monday through Thursday, the regular school timings are from 8am to 3pm and on Friday the hours are from 8am -12:30pm.

Students are allowed to remain at the campus until 4pm, where they will be supervised and allowed to use the library or the sports areas.

Full boarding facilities are available for boys over the age of 13 under the supervision of the house master.
All boarding at Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad has been designed to keep the students comfort and parent’s convenience in mind.


Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad offers optional transport to and from the campus from various points inside the twin cities. The transport facility not only promises comfort, but also assures quality and safety of its passengers by providing a security guard and female caretakers on each bus.


We believe nutritious and healthy eating habits are fundamental for our students to grow and learn. At Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad, specific lunch and snack timings have been reserved. The dedicated lunch area offers healthy and nutritious meals to cater to the needs of the growing children. These meals are also flexible in terms of dietary needs such as variety, preferences and relevant allergies.


Fieldtrips allow students to relate their classroom learning to the external world. At Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad, our students have an opportunity to link their classroom learning through a variety of local and international field trips including cultural, educational and sports related trips.

Assessment and reporting:

Assessments at Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad – Diploma Programme is aligned with the IBDP requirements. Students follow the semester system and appear in a school based exam twice a year. A part of their assessment is internal as per the IB requirement and its weightage will vary for every subject. At the end of the two years, students take an external exam conducted by the International Baccalaureate.

The reporting system in Beaconhouse Newlands Islamabad ensures that the parents and the students receive feedback on classwork, assessment and exams in a timely fashion. The parents and students receive feedback using a specially designed system for the IB Diploma Programme called ‘ManageBac.’ This integrated systems also allows attendance monitoring, homework diary, submission of work, and unit planning.
